Stock Assessment Toolbox

This web site provides links to, and a summary of, most of the freely-available packages to conduct stock assessments for fish and invertebrate stocks. Many stock assessment methods have been developed. This web site provides a summary of those methods that have been assembled into ‘packages’ (broadly defined as software that can be run by a user other than the developer(s) of the package).

Toolbox Resources

This toolbox has a series of resources we hope you will find useful. See the Purpose of the Site for more details.

1. Package Specification

This allows you to search for packages, find out more about them and links to download or install. Each package has been classified into a package type and our view of Recommended packages have been added.

2. Simulated Test Data

If you want to test different methods, we supply a dataset with known characteristics. It is aimed at Australian Fisheries. So for example, Australian fisheries tend not to have fishery independent survey data.

3. Installation Guidelines

We selected a few packages to test out our own simulated dataset. The R code and test datasets are available for your use so you can test the package yourself. This complements the package developer resources.
